Alan's meal memories

Wednesdays were always shepherd’s pie nights. Muddy boots, scraped knees, and the smell of the pie bubbling away in the oven. Tom would come barrelling in, starving, and I’d try to make him eat his peas; sometimes successfully, sometimes not. Some things never change; he still comes on Wednesdays for shepherd’s pie. But nowadays he eats all of his peas.
