Charity Appeal - Donate a meal
We invite you to join us to help those in need by adding an extra meal to your next order for just £4.95. For every meal you donate, we'll match this.
Description
Last year, Parsley Box introduced a new ongoing campaign where our customers can purchase a Charity Meal as part of their order. Every Charity Meal purchased by our customers is then matched by Parsley Box, and all meals are donated to a UK charity. In 2023, we donated over 19,500 meals to charities and food banks around the UK. At the beginning of this year we asked for nominations from our customers for local charities they wanted to support in 2024, and we will be raising donations for a different one each month.
March's charity is The Felix Project.
The Felix Project is London’s largest food redistribution charity. They work with all areas of the food industry to rescue high quality, edible food, that would otherwise have gone to waste. They then sort and deliver this food to over 1,000 community organisations, such as food banks, pantries, homeless shelters, refuges and primary schools, all of whom are working on the frontline to feed people experiencing food insecurity across London.
We have four depots in North, South, East and West London, where we store the food and a fleet of 45 Felix green vans that go out 7 days a week and deliver it to organisation in every London borough. On top of that we have a kitchen, that creates up to 5,000 healthy and nutritious meals every day. These pre-portioned meals are also sent to our community organisations and give people an easy and quick hot meal. Finally, we have a green scheme that sees volunteers collect food from retailers and take it directly to organisations – without it ever going into a depot.
Our services are more in need than ever before, in 2023 The Felix Project delivered the equivalent of 32 million meals to people at risk of going hungry, but we know so many more need our help. We recently found 89% of organisations who receive our food say they are expecting to see an increase in demand in 2024.
