Established in 1852, John Smith bought his own brewery in Tadcaster, set to experiment and refine the brewing process until he arrived at his greatest and most enduring achievement, John Smith's beer. A beer that champions everyday yet is only ordinary by name. A full-flavoured smooth ale, with a distinct clear copper colour and cascading beige head which leaves a heavy lacing on the glass. It has a cereal character with malty, caramel notes complemented with a note of fruitiness. A clean, classic Yorkshire bitter. Our Food Pairing This is a classic bitter which can be paired with a variety of foods such as a Sunday roast chicken, fish and chips or a Welsh rarebit. However, we recommend trying alongside our hearty beef stews or pork hotpots.
